George designs and makes INTERIORS at scale with wood, stone, metals, ceramics, salvage, and fabrics. Recent projects include hyper regency stained-glass doors for the collage artist Mark Hearld, a mid 20th-century interior for architectural historian Otto Saumerez-Smith, a garden study in Spitalfields, and a rustic kitchen for a cottage on the River Tweed.

MEDIEVAL MODERNISM. Furniture made in dialogue with the Arts & Crafts movement, Bauhaus and european Art Deco. George’s designs challenge nostalgic and romanticised views of the Middle Ages. They are stimulated by moments when medieval aesthetics anticipate and disrupt modernity.

WORDS. Including literary translations of Anglo-Saxon poems, academic writing, and interiors related journalism. In progress is a book called Simple Lives - playful biographical sketches of individuals who have attempted to regulate their relationship with technology, successfully sometimes but often not so much. From Diogenes to Marie Kondo via Simone Weil.
